The VALDI cloud computing marketplace connects customers who have high-performance computing needs with thoroughly vetted companies and data centers who contribute cutting-edge GPUs to the VALDI network. This innovative sharing economy for cloud computing enables VALDI to provide services at significantly lower cost than competitors (~50% lower) while maintaining trust and security for both users and providers.
Thus far, the VALDI network has consisted entirely of dedicated devices, often referred to as “bare metal” servers. In the VALDI dashboard, these devices are simply termed “servers”. Any user can claim an available server by starting an SSH session (SSH is a secure way of remotely accessing a computer). The user then pays an hourly fee for the duration of the SSH session, and a large fraction of this fee is forwarded on to the provider.
Several thousand servers featuring a variety of powerful GPUs are currently connected to VALDI. These include the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti, RTX 3080, and RTX 3090. Such chips have proven excellent for small- to medium-scale deep learning applications, but are sometimes insufficient for the most advanced AI tasks.
